Arrest of Attacker in Odessa: Woman Falls Victim to Robbery
On Heroes of Defense of Odessa Street, a troubling incident occurred where an unknown assailant attacked a woman with a knife in the entrance of an apartment building, stealing a gold chain before fleeing the scene. The police promptly initiated an investigation and apprehended the suspect within hours.
The event took place on the morning of April 15, as a 63-year-old resident of Odessa was returning home. An unfamiliar man entered the building behind her, cornered her, held a knife to her throat, and took her jewelry.
Law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene and, with the help of canine units, identified the perpetrator within a day. He turned out to be a 33-year-old man with a previous criminal record and no permanent residence. It was discovered that he exchanged the stolen chain for drugs. Authorities are working to locate the stolen item.
"The suspect has been arrested in accordance with the law and placed in detention. He has already been charged under part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The offender could face up to 15 years in prison with property confiscation. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa," the statement reads.
