Temporary Ban on Herring Fishing in Odesa Region
From April 20 to May 9, 2025, a temporary ban on industrial herring fishing will be implemented in the Odesa region. This restriction applies to certain sections of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester estuary. This was reported by the «Odesa Fish Protection Patrol».
The restrictions will be in effect in the following areas:
- from April 20 to 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the branch of the Tulchin mouth;
- from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream from the Tulchin mouth;
- from April 20 to 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubossary Hydroelectric Plant dam;
- from April 20 to 24 — Dniester estuary, Turunchuk arm, and main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (28 km mark).
This ban is introduced to protect fish populations during the spawning period. The Odesa Fish Protection Patrol will monitor compliance with these restrictions.
Violating the established rules may lead to administrative or criminal liability under current legislation.
