Safety on the Railway: Preventing Dangerous Teen Activities
The Juvenile Police of Ukraine is collaborating with Ukrainian Railways to prevent the dangerous activity known as "train surfing" by teenagers.
Teens climb onto train roofs and cross tracks in forbidden areas seeking thrills.
This is not a sport; it poses real risks to life: severe injuries, amputations, or electrocution.
From April 10 to May 10, 2025, a joint preventive campaign by the Juvenile Police and Ukrainian Railways will commence.
During this month:
- we will visit schools and vocational institutions
- we will engage in open discussions with children
- together with experts, we will explain why railways are not playgrounds!
What to do if you witness dangerous behavior by children on the railway?
If you are at a station or platform and see children who:
- are attempting to climb onto a train
- are already on the roof
- are playing near the tracks
Act immediately, but cautiously.
Report to the station duty officer or any railway staff.
Call the police (102) or emergency services (101) — professionals will respond swiftly.
Warn or call out to children planning to surf or already in unsafe areas.
Document the incident and the individuals involved — this will aid in identification and notifying parents.
Be vigilant with your children. Talk to them about real risks!
