Man Arrested for Illegal Trafficking of Arms and Drugs

A 37-year-old man from the Odesa region has been charged with crimes related to the illegal sale of weapons and drugs, facing up to eight years in prison.

Officers from the Odesa District Police No. 2 discovered that the suspect from the Vygodyanska community was attempting to sell ammunition and narcotic substances.

During operational activities, law enforcement documented the moment the suspect sold two grenades along with drugs for 5500 hryvnias.

With the assistance of bomb disposal experts, investigators seized the grenades, which turned out to be functional military munitions, as well as narcotic substances and cash.

During a search of his residence, several packets containing similar plant material, packaging equipment, and over a hundred rounds of ammunition were found. Some of the seized items have been sent for forensic examination.

As reported by the head of the Odesa District Police No. 2, Andriy Donets, the suspect was arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged with illegal acquisition, storage, and distribution of narcotic substances (Part 1 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and illegal possession and distribution of munitions without proper authorization (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court has selected a preventive measure of detention. The suspect faces up to eight years of imprisonment.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine how the suspect obtained the illegal items. The procedural oversight is being conducted by the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
