Healthcare Worker Charged with Treason: New Developments
The Odesa regional prosecutor's office has filed charges against a healthcare worker accused of treason (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Investigators found that the accused voluntarily assisted Russian intelligence agencies in conducting sabotage activities against Ukraine. He hoped to secure a leadership position in the occupying administration if the region was captured.
The individual provided information to the aggressor about the locations of personnel from the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, and the Maritime Guard in the Izmail district.
Another task assigned to him was to monitor the traffic of vessels in the local port and the types of cargo they transported.
This information was used by the occupiers to prepare new and adjust previous attacks on the Odesa region.
Specific details about the locations of Ukrainian defenders and military infrastructure were transmitted to an FSB officer via one of the messaging apps.
The agent was detained in August 2024, and during a search, a mobile phone containing evidence of his criminal activities was confiscated.
Currently, he is held in custody at the request of the prosecution.
The investigation was conducted by the SBU in the Odesa region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
