Three Arrested for Organizing Railway Arson in Odesa Region
The Odesa regional prosecutor's office has filed an indictment against three individuals who were part of a criminal organization responsible for arson on railway facilities during wartime (Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation revealed that the accused received an assignment through a messaging app from an agent of the Russian special services to carry out acts of sabotage on the Odesa railway for monetary compensation.
In August 2024, they set fire to eight relay cabinets on railway lines and stations in the Odesa region using a pre-prepared incendiary mixture.
The arsonists followed a typical scheme used by Russian intelligence: they first scouted potential targets, obtained approval, and then executed the arson, capturing the acts on video. For each completed task, they received payments that were distributed among the group members.
Currently, all accused individuals are in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
