Military Intelligence Day: Honoring Our Heroes
In Ukraine, Military Intelligence Day is celebrated in honor of the brave counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine.
This professional holiday was established in 1991 by the decree of President Leonid Kravchuk, marking the beginning of military counterintelligence in independent Ukraine. This department operates under the Central Administration of the SBU.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, congratulated the counterintelligence officers on their professional holiday.
He stated, "Today we honor the military counterintelligence officers of the SBU who identify enemy networks and neutralize spies and saboteurs."
Syrskyi emphasized that during the war for Ukraine's independence, the role of counterintelligence officers is exceptional, as they operate on the front lines of the "invisible front," detecting and dismantling networks of Russian intelligence services in the rear.
"On this day, I bow my head in memory of every brave Ukrainian counterintelligence officer who laid down their life in the fight against the Russian evil empire. My deep gratitude goes to our counterintelligence officers for each disrupted plan of the Russian agents, for saving the lives of Ukrainian citizens," the Commander-in-Chief noted.
