Mobile Network Recovery in Odesa: New Milestones
In Odesa, access to mobile networks has been restored to 60% following massive attacks on energy infrastructure. Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Digital Transformation, reported that engineering teams from well-known operators like Vodafone, Kyivstar, and lifecell are working tirelessly, maintaining base stations on batteries and generators, and additional Starlink terminals have been provided for resilience points.
The situation with communication in the Odesa region remains challenging. Mobile operators are continuing to work diligently to restore networks following the devastating attacks.
"The enemy does not relent, continuing to shell our cities. We are doing everything possible to restore communication in Odesa," Fedorov stated.
He emphasized that immediately after the attacks, engineering teams switched to continuous operation mode to restore communication. Initially, base stations maintained connectivity on batteries, and later switched to generators.
To ensure stable operation of the stations, additional teams were formed to supply generators with fuel and repair damaged equipment. As of today, Odesa has achieved a network restoration level of 60%, which marks significant progress.
Furthermore, new Starlink terminals have been sent to Odesa to provide Internet access at resilience points where people can charge their devices and connect with others. Fedorov expressed gratitude to engineers, energy workers, and operator teams working to restore communication in Odesa under challenging conditions.
It is worth noting that energy workers have restored electricity supply for nearly 330,000 families in Odesa over the past three days. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, reported that as of December 16, all critical infrastructure facilities have been reconnected to electricity, although 288,200 families remain temporarily without power.
