Innovations in Education: Embracing Digital Technologies
The conference titled ‘Innovations in Education: Embracing Digital Technologies’ was held at the 'European' Lyceum in Odessa as part of the Open Educational Forum #EducationOdessa - 2023.
The primary aim of the event was to introduce educators and the community to contemporary digital and information technologies applied within educational institutions, particularly the use of ChatGPT and other digital tools in teaching practices.
More than 200 participants attended, including representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and educational leaders from municipal institutions in Odessa, higher education establishments, and NGOs focused on integrating educational digital technologies.
The conference was inaugurated by Iryna Stolbova, Deputy Director of the Odessa City Education and Science Department. In her address, she outlined key principles for implementing digital technologies in general secondary education for the 2023/2024 academic year, emphasizing compliance with current Ukrainian legislation when selecting digital products.
The event featured discussion panels on the following topics:
- Digitalization of education during wartime and post-war periods;
- Creating a digital educational space;
- Utilizing digital tools in educational institutions;
- Ensuring a safe modern educational environment;
- Employing ChatGPT in educational activities.
Based on the conference outcomes, a resolution was adopted stressing the need to establish a working group for the creation and maintenance of Ukraine's digital educational space. Additionally, developers of national educational software products were encouraged to adhere to state standards, current legislation, personal data protection, and European Union recommendations on forming an electronic educational environment.
The conference was organized by the Odessa City Education and Science Department, the State Scientific Institution 'Institute for the Modernization of Education Content', and companies providing various digital systems and tools.
