Engineer Forces Dayin Ukraine
In Ukraine, November 3 marks Engineer Forces Day.
This day was established by the decree of the President of Ukraine on October 27, 1999.
Military engineers provide engineering support to units across all branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They are part of the special forces within the Armed Forces.
Military engineers are at the forefront of defense. In wartime, they initiate attacks and facilitate the advance of infantry and tank units. They create pathways through enemy minefields, clear debris for safe movement of their troops, and conduct demining of areas, buildings, roads, airfields, and streets.
In peacetime, they focus on detecting and neutralizing mines, shells, and grenades; and on the disposal of outdated engineering munitions, equipment, and property.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal congratulated military engineers on their professional holiday.
"Military engineers are the shield that protects the lives of our defenders. They are the foundation of our defense and the driving force of our offense," he stated on Facebook.
The Minister added that military engineers establish positions, build fortifications, crossings, and bridges, clear minefields, and facilitate the advance of Ukrainian forces.
Shmyhal thanked them for their bravery, professionalism, and resilience, for their dedicated service under the most challenging conditions.
"We honor the memory of engineer soldiers who died fighting for Ukraine's freedom and independence," he added.
