In Memory of Mykola Leifura: A Hero of Ukraine

Lieutenant General (retired) Mykola Petrovych Leifura passed away at the age of ninety. His life was entirely devoted to serving his country, and for the last two decades, he actively engaged in veteran support in Odessa.

Mykola Petrovych chose the noble profession of defending his homeland at a young age, becoming a career military officer. Throughout his service, he commanded tank platoons, companies, battalions, regiments, and mechanized divisions. He concluded his military career as the Deputy Commander of the Odessa Military District. 
He was awarded numerous honors, including orders for service to the homeland of the III and II degrees, as well as the Bohdan Khmelnytsky orders of the III and II degrees.

In his final years, Mykola Petrovych led the city council of war veterans, served as the deputy chairman of the regional veterans' organization, and was a member of the Council of Veterans of Ukraine.

With Mykola Leifura, an entire era is passing, but his vital mission of supporting veterans takes on new significance and will be continued by contemporaries.

The Mayor of Odessa, the Odessa City Council, and its executive bodies express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mykola Petrovych.
