YouTube Outage: Global Issues on October 16
On the night of October 16, millions of users across the globe faced difficulties accessing the video hosting service YouTube and its related platforms. The YouTube team confirmed they were aware of the issues occurring during video playback on YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV.
Shortly thereafter, they reported that the problem had been resolved and users could resume watching videos, although specifics regarding the cause of the outage were not disclosed.
According to the NetBlocks service, which monitors internet access, this incident was not linked to any global internet failure or country-level filtering.
Data from the Downdetector platform indicated that the highest number of complaints was received at 2:36 AM on October 16, with over 330,000 users reporting issues with YouTube. Complaints were reported from Ukraine, the USA, the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, and several other countries.
