Special Programs at the 16th OIFF
The 16th Odesa International Film Festival is preparing two exclusive programs for its audience — "Festival of Festivals" and "Festival of Ukrainian Films". These will showcase both global and Ukrainian cinema that tackles the most pressing issues of today: freedom, memory, human relationships, and global challenges.
This was reported by the press service of the Odesa International Film Festival.
What Programs Are There
The "Festival of Festivals" program will feature films from the UK, Spain, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, the USA, and other countries. Audiences will witness dramatic narratives about human trauma, the fragility of trust, struggles with the past, and attempts to find hope. Among these are "The Ceremony", "Evenings of Solitude", "Sicilian Letters", "The Conductor", and other films that have already received recognition at festivals in Venice, Cannes, San Sebastián, and Karlovy Vary.
The "Festival of Ukrainian Films" program will bring together new works by Ukrainian directors. Among them are "Queens of Joy" about the LGBTQ+ community's fight during the war, "Bartka" addressing environmental challenges in the Carpathians, and "Antarctica: War Diaries", showcasing an expedition by Ukrainian scientists during the invasion.
Organizers emphasize that all films share a common trait: they address global issues through personal stories that resonate with everyone.
Where It Will Take Place
This year, the 16th Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) will be held in Kyiv from September 24 to October 4, 2025. It has been moved from Odesa due to the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine.
As a reminder, we previously reported that Olya Polyakova announced her film. We also informed that Netflix released a teaser for a detective saga featuring Daniel Craig.
