Military Intelligence Day: Significance and Recognition
In Ukraine, September 7 is celebrated as Military Intelligence Day. This day symbolizes the recognition of the vital role military intelligence plays in safeguarding national interests. In times of aggression, the country requires reliable and swift intelligence capable of providing up-to-date and accurate information for making crucial national security decisions.
Military intelligence is the eyes, ears, and mind of the army, says Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.
According to Budanov, this holiday is for those who engage in the important fight for the freedom and safety of Ukraine.
“Military intelligence embodies our courage, determination, intellect, and love for our homeland,” Budanov emphasized.
The daily work of Ukrainian intelligence officers combines intellect, modern technologies, and unwavering bravery.
Many of them have paid the highest price for their loyalty to their oath. Their names are forever etched on the Memorial of Remembrance, noted the head of the GUR. He thanked each intelligence officer and all those supporting them in this fight.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated intelligence officers on Military Intelligence Day. The greeting was published on Syrskyi’s Facebook page.
“Dear defenders of Ukraine! On September 7, we traditionally celebrate Military Intelligence Day. I sincerely congratulate you on your professional holiday! You work tirelessly at the front and within enemy lines, achieving essential results for Ukraine,” Syrskyi stated.
He also highlighted that “the combat experience of Ukrainian intelligence officers is highly valued by our Western partners for their professionalism and responsiveness.”
“In due time, we will recount the remarkable operations conducted by our intelligence officers that thwarted the enemy’s plans,” Syrskyi emphasized.
“Today, we honor the memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence. Eternal memory to the fallen heroes,” the general added.
He also expressed gratitude to the servicemen.
“Thank you for your significant contribution to our shared cause,” Syrskyi remarked.
