Revamping the Marine Section of the Stormwater Collector: New Developments
Starting from August 14, 2025, the renovation works for the marine section of the stormwater collector in Novoarkadiya commenced.
Initially, the existing collector will be cleared of sand and debris in the area between the bike-pedestrian alley and the artificial beach «Arkadiya», and between traverses No. 1 and No. 1-2 of the second phase of landslide protection structures (the former True man beach complex).
Subsequent work will be shifted to the beach area, closer to the shoreline.
To ensure safe working conditions and to prevent dangerous situations for vacationers, part of the beach zone will be fenced off with a construction barrier by the contracting organization.
To provide a comfortable experience for visitors, all transportation of construction materials and debris will be carried out at night (from 9 PM to 8 AM).
According to the contract signed with the contractor, the planned completion date for the works is December 31, 2026.
However, if there are no frequent extreme weather conditions in winter, the contractor aims to finish the work by the end of May 2026.
The capital repair of the main stormwater collector in Novoarkadiya is part of the directives from the Mayor of Odesa addressing the flooding issues during heavy rains. Existing main collectors do not effectively drain water during storms and require cleaning and modernization. In previous years, capital repairs were conducted on the most critical sections of the Novoarkadiya collector. Currently, the most complex final stage of works is beginning—the reconstruction of the marine section of the stormwater collector, which involves underwater work.
