Strategic Partnership for Cybersecurity Advancement in Ukraine
The Federation of Military-Technical Sports of Ukraine has signed a cooperation agreement with SET University to enhance educational initiatives in cybersecurity. The primary aim is to train specialists through Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions and participation in international contests.
"Military-technical sports are relevant today. Ukraine became the first country to recognize CTF as an official sport, and we are already working on establishing a training system for cyber athletes. The Federation, in partnership with governmental and technical entities, is building a new model of cyber resilience through sports and education," emphasized Arthur Buligin, President of the Federation.
In 2025, CTF received official sports recognition in Ukraine, paving the way for regional competitions held on July 26-27, where finalists were chosen.
The competitions took place at the Unit Range cyber polygon with the support of Cyber Unit Technologies, where participants tackled challenges across various categories, including Web, Crypto, Reverse, PWN, OSINT, Forensics, along with a special challenge from Cyber Lab.
During the regional championships, the best teams were identified across different regions. In Vinnytsia, the Samurai team took first place, Cyber Support came in second, and RCE Ninjas finished third. In Rivne region, the 0xRivne team won, NUWM secured silver, and 404TEAM took bronze. In Mykolaiv region, BARRACUDA emerged as the leader, Ghost in the Shellcode finished second, and 0xMK UA claimed third.
These teams will represent their regions at the final of the Ukrainian Cybersecurity Championship in September 2025.
Additionally, on July 26-27, the open tournament CYBER UNIT UNITED took place, which received the status of a national selection stage. The dcua team emerged victorious, with ByteMe in second place and dttua in third. Teams qualifying for the finals of the Ukrainian Championship include DNAcademy, Gongo, Exploit, Snufkink, XYZ.NXT, 0xSum, and LocalHost.
Regional competition winners will advance to the finals of the Ukrainian Cyber Games Championship where the victors will form the core of the national team to represent Ukraine at the European Cybersecurity Challenge 2025 in Poland. Additionally, finalists will receive scholarships for a master's degree in cybersecurity at SET University.
