Tragedy at Sea: Explosion on Dredging Vessel
Yesterday, July 23, late at night, a tragic incident occurred involving a dredging vessel owned by the «Delta-Lotsman» branch of the state enterprise «Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine».
This was reported by the AMPU press service on Facebook.
The vessel was at the mouth of the "Bystre" conducting scheduled operations with 11 crew members on board.
As a result of the explosion, three AMPU employees lost their lives. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Other crew members are currently hospitalized and receiving all necessary medical assistance.
Relevant services are working at the scene. Details are being clarified. Further updates will be provided.
The state enterprise «Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine» will provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased and those affected by this tragic event.
The maritime access channel at the mouth of «Bystre» is temporarily closed to vessel traffic. Passage to/from the maritime ports of the Danube region is currently being conducted via the Sulina Canal.
