Amendments to Ukraine's Criminal Procedure Code

The official publication of the Verkhovna Rada, “Golos Ukrainy,” recently released Law No. 4555-IX “On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine Regarding the Investigation of Missing Persons during Wartime”.

Relevant information is available on the publication's website.

According to the document, this law will come into effect the day after its publication.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on July 22 that limits the powers of NABU and SAP.

Specifically, the bill No. 12414 "On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine Regarding Investigation of Missing Persons during Wartime" included several significant revisions.

Following the adoption of the law, NABU Director Semen Kryvonos urged the President not to sign it, arguing that "two independent institutions – NABU and SAP – are effectively being placed under dependency."

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law regarding the investigation of missing persons during wartime, which significantly reduces the powers of NABU and SAP.

Members of the Ukrainian Parliament are initiating a petition and preparing a constitutional submission to the Constitutional Court regarding the law that narrows the powers of NABU and SAP.
