Fire Incidents in Odesa Region: Latest Updates
In the Odesa region, 6 significant fires occurred over the past day. Dry grass, shrubs, forest belts, hay, buildings, and fields of rapeseed burned over vast areas of Ukrainian land. Numerous units of equipment and rescuers were engaged in extinguishing these fires, according to the State Emergency Service (SES).
On July 9, a fire broke out near the village of Znamianka, affecting an area of 27 hectares of dry grass and 3 hectares of forest. Due to strong winds, rescue teams operated under heightened alert.
"Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire. There were no casualties or injuries. The SES deployed 7 units of equipment and 28 firefighters, while the local community contributed 7 units of specialized equipment and 2 pumps," the SES reported.
In the afternoon, a fire also ignited near the village of Lymanske, covering an area of 8 hectares.
"Rescuers extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is attributed to careless handling of fire by an unidentified individual. The SES involved 3 units of equipment and 12 firefighters," the statement said.
Additionally, near the village of Sylivka, a fire occurred affecting 24 hectares, including an outbuilding covering 100 square meters.
"During firefighting, two wheat fields were saved, totaling 50 hectares in area, for the 2025 harvest. There were no casualties or injuries. The cause is still being established. The SES engaged 3 units of equipment and 12 firefighters, along with 1 unit from the local fire team and 50 local residents," the SES added.
In the village of Travneve, a fire broke out affecting 17 hectares. Rescuers were able to extinguish it successfully.
"The cause of the fire and damages are under investigation. No casualties or injuries were reported. The SES deployed 2 units of equipment and 10 firefighters, while the local community provided 3 units of specialized equipment," the statement said.
On July 9, in the vicinity of the village of Mykhailivka, another fire broke out, affecting 10 hectares. Firefighters extinguished the blaze without any casualties.
"The cause of the fire is attributed to careless handling of fire by an unidentified person. The SES involved 1 unit of equipment and 4 firefighters, along with 2 units from the local community," the SES noted.
In the village of Burdynove, a fire broke out on July 9, affecting 10 hectares of dry grass and shrubs, which was extinguished by rescuers.
"The cause is under investigation. There were no casualties or injuries. The SES deployed 4 units of equipment and 14 firefighters," the SES reported.
