Fires in Odesa Region: Consequences and Rescue Efforts
In the past day, four significant fires occurred in the Odesa region, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three others. The fires caused considerable damage, destroying dozens of hectares of land. These incidents took place in the Rozdilna, Odesa, Izmail, and Bereziv districts, as reported by the State Emergency Service.
On July 7, during the day, outside the village of Novopetrivka in the Rozdilna district, stubble, shrubs, and a forest belt burned on an area of 23 hectares. The firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze, but the cause of the fire and the damage are still being determined. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. A total of 5 units of equipment and 15 firefighters were involved in the operation.
Also on July 7, in the Odesa district near the village of Velyki Lonzaky, stubble caught fire on an area of 2.5 hectares along with four abandoned outbuildings. The fire was quickly extinguished by the rescuers.
"During an independent attempt to extinguish the fire, a woman born in 1955 was injured and hospitalized with I-II degree burns on both lower limbs. A total of 4 units of equipment and 17 firefighters were involved in the operation," the agency reported.
In the village of Broska in the Izmail district, on July 7, dry grass burned over an area of 2.5 hectares along with two abandoned buildings. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames.
"Unfortunately, the body of a woman born in 1947 was found on the scene, who likely attempted to extinguish the fire herself. A total of 2 units of equipment and 7 firefighters were involved, along with 1 unit and 2 personnel from the local fire brigade "Ozerne" and 1 unit with 2 personnel from the local fire brigade "Katlabug", as reported by the press service.
In the evening of July 7, in the village of Novosvitivka in the Bereziv district, stubble caught fire on an area of 2.5 hectares. During an independent attempt to put out the flames, two underage girls aged 17 and 15 were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. A total of 3 units of equipment and 10 firefighters were involved in the extinguishing effort.
