The Coastal Wonder: Sea Mustard
Within the Tuzlovsky Limans National Park, a fascinating plant known as sea mustard (Cakile maritima) is currently in bloom and bearing fruit.
This was reported by park staff member, Dr. Ivan Rusev, a biological sciences expert.
Sea mustard is notable for its resilience to adverse conditions and its crucial role in forming and stabilizing coastal ecosystems. It thrives on beach plains and dunes, providing shelter and nourishment for various animals.
The fruits of sea mustard are buoyant and can spread through seawater. The plant's seeds contain oil that is used in both medicine and as a food supplement.
