Addressing Water Supply Issues and Rebuilding in Odesa Region
The Odesa region is intensifying efforts to resolve water supply issues and finalize the reconstruction of a nine-story building in Serhiivka that was destroyed by Russian attacks. Plans are underway for the construction of a group water pipeline to serve 16 settlements, where around 45,000 residents are in need of water.
This information comes from the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The agency's head, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, met with community leaders and the district council to discuss the critical water supply situation. The issue is particularly pressing for the Bolhrad and Suvoriv communities, where residents rely on water deliveries due to the lack of access to artesian wells. The agency's head indicated that the construction of a group water pipeline is being planned to address this concern.
"Ensuring water supply for the communities in the Odesa region is critical and requires immediate solutions. Currently, about 45,000 people are in need of water. We hope to allocate funds for this project from savings made on the Mykolaiv water pipeline project," emphasized Serhiy Sukhomlyn.
Completion of Rebuilding in Serhiivka
Serhiy Sukhomlyn, along with First Deputy Head Mykola Boyko and Deputy Minister for Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, visited Serhiivka, where the reconstruction of the nine-story building destroyed by a Russian missile in the summer of 2022 is nearing completion. Reconstruction began in 2023, and all engineering networks have been installed, entrances have been arranged, the facade has been painted, and the roof has been restored.
"I spoke with the residents. Every family has its own story. Some are still recovering from injuries, while others were fortunately not home at the time of the explosion. Yet, what unites everyone is the desire to return home," said Mykola Boyko.
The restored building features energy-efficient solutions, a secure bomb shelter, and inclusivity with elevators, ramps, and handrails. The apartments have been equipped with walls and flooring, taking into account the residents' needs.
