New Memorial Alley in Odesa: Honoring Heroes
In Odesa, during the Day of Memory for Ukraine's defenders, the Memorial Alley honoring the heroes who gave their lives was ceremoniously opened.
Hundreds of families, local officials, military personnel, and veterans gathered to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and future.
Ruslan Prykhodko, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs, thanked everyone involved in creating the Memorial Alley:
«This is not just a place of remembrance, but also a venue for shaping our national identity».
The Alley currently features over 200 names, yet the number of fallen heroes is significantly higher.
Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov stated that the Alley will continue to be updated with the names of defenders who have fallen since 2014.
Efforts are also underway to create a Memorial at one of the city's cemeteries in collaboration with the families of the fallen heroes.
Additionally, work is ongoing to improve the Glory and Freedom Square and the Memorial to Fighters for Ukraine.
«For me, these are not just projects; they are symbols of our memory and gratitude. They are places where we can support each other on days of remembrance», - noted Trukhanov.
Together, we preserve the memory of those who have died and will continue their legacy, striving for a better life for all of us.
