Infrastructure Upgrades in Odesa: New Tram Tracks and Lighting
Starting from August 9, 2024, comprehensive repair works began at the Heroes Square (formerly Tolbukhina Square) in Odesa to improve infrastructure.
Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov stated that to ensure safe passage for new modern trams arriving in Odesa, repairs are necessary on certain sections of the old tracks.
The work is being carried out according to schedule, in stages, and includes repairs to the roadway, tram tracks, external lighting, and landscaping of green areas.
Currently, the tram tracks have been completely replaced in both directions towards the city center and Lustdorf. The road surface has been aligned with the tram rails, facilitating crossings and increasing traffic capacity. Road markings will be applied in the coming days.
Moreover, the external lighting system has been updated using energy-efficient fixtures. This has significantly improved safety during nighttime and contributes to reducing electricity costs.
Landscaping of green areas is also ongoing.
The work is being carried out without interrupting traffic. Specialists from KP “Odesmiskelektrotrans”, KP “Miskzelentrest”, KP “Odesmisksvitlo”, and the Road Management Department are involved in the operations.
