Maintenance of Hydrological Structures in Odesa

To ensure the effective functioning of hydrological structures, specialists from the KP "City Roads" in Odesa carry out regular cleaning operations.

The buffer pond, the Romanian canal, and the Kuyalnytsia ditches are specifically designed for draining rainwater, meltwater, and wastewater from the city streets.

Using specialized equipment, municipal workers clear the channels and pond of grass, reeds, debris, and sludge. Particular focus is given to the most clogged areas, notably near private sector drains.

The Kuyalnytsia ditch, which is 4650 meters long, serves as the main drainage channel and runs along Vapnyana and Khadyzhbey roads, leading through filtration fields to the drainage pumping station. It diverts drainage, rain, and meltwater from neighborhoods adjacent to these streets.

Regular cleaning of storm drains and sewer collectors throughout the city is also conducted, employing heavy machinery such as excavators, graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units mounted on MAN trucks for flushing pipes.

In the event of heavy rainfall, these tasks are carried out as needed.
