Urban Greenery Update in Odessa: New Trees and Modern Equipment
Since the beginning of 2025, the municipal service «Miskzelentrest» in Odessa has removed 958 hazardous trees and eradicated over 800 stumps.
The work was carried out in response to citizen requests, adverse weather conditions, or as part of city improvement programs.
This autumn, the planting of approximately 1,000 young trees, including ashes, sophoras, linden, maples, and others, is planned. Most of the saplings will be planted in the places of the removed trees. All trees are large-scale and suited for urban environments.
Stump removal is a complex task. Until this year, municipal workers lacked the specialized equipment for stump removal, making the process significantly slower. Now, the work is being conducted using new machinery - the Rotor Speedy 80/100 stump grinder and the KATA KF1404 tractor with 140 horsepower, designed for timely and quality stump removal.
With the new equipment, the green workers have drastically reduced the time required for physically demanding tasks: previously, manual stump removal was scheduled for 12 hours, but now the entire process for a 70 cm diameter stump takes only 40 minutes.
