Restoration of the Chimney at the Northern-2 Boiler House

The extensive restoration of the chimney at the «Northern-2» boiler house, damaged by bad weather in November 2023, has been completed.

The restoration work was conducted with financial support from UNICEF. The chimney of the municipal heating company «Odesa Heat Supply» has been put into operation and is now providing heat to 120,000 residents, as well as educational and medical institutions in the area.

«This winter, UNICEF's priority was to provide heat to families and children, as well as ensure the functioning of essential services, including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and the operation of educational institutions, particularly in the areas most affected by the war,» said Munir Mamedzade, head of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine.

Mayor of Odesa, Gennadii Trukhanov, expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF on behalf of the Odesa community for its consistent support and cooperation.

«The implemented project is a vivid example of international cooperation and support that we feel in all aspects, especially crucial in restoring and developing our city’s critical infrastructure. Together, we are prepared for modern challenges and capable of ensuring comfortable living conditions for our citizens,» the mayor of Odesa expressed his thanks.

The mayor also mentioned that the restoration of the boiler house building itself is ongoing, but it does not affect the technological process of heating the residents of Odesa.
