Renovation of Maternity Hospital in Odesa
The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting with representatives of the International Medical Corps to discuss significant upgrades to the medical infrastructure.
In 2024, the International Medical Corps facilitated the renovation of the shelter at Maternity Hospital No. 5, which included updates to the ventilation, water supply, and heating systems.
The shelter is now equipped with the latest medical gear, including a powerful oxygen concentrator for artificial lung ventilation.
Currently, all necessary conditions have been established for childbirth and providing medical assistance to mothers and their newborns.
Additionally, the International Medical Corps has repaired basement areas to create a temporary shelter for residents of nearby buildings.
"I thank our partners for their assistance. We have provided the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power. This ensures autonomous power for the shelter and women’s clinic," noted Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Moreover, funds from the city budget have been allocated for purchasing modern resuscitation equipment for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance.
Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in obstetric care for premature births and intensive therapy for newborns with extremely low birth weight, starting from 500 grams.
