Breast Cancer Screening in Odesa
Last year, medical facilities in Odesa conducted 13,400 mammographic screenings, during which over 500 suspicious cases of oncopathology were identified. Women with detected abnormalities were referred for further consultation with specialists.
Mammography — a crucial oncological screening method that allows for the early diagnosis of breast tumors, as well as the timely identification of precancerous conditions to initiate treatment. Women over 40 are advised to undergo mammography annually, even in the absence of complaints.
Free mammography is included in the state medical guarantee program and is funded by the National Health Service of Ukraine for women aged 40 and over with a referral from a family or treating physician.
Medical institutions in Odesa have been equipped with modern mammography machines funded by the city budget, and a unique Family Health Center has been established at Consultative and Diagnostic Center No. 6 for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases.
