Rehabilitation Conference in Odessa: New Ideas and Approaches
A significant conference dedicated to innovative medical aspects of rehabilitation has taken place in Odessa. This event was organized in collaboration with the Odessa National Medical University and the Rehabilitation Management Association.
For two days, leading experts will discuss key issues regarding rehabilitation services in Southern Ukraine, including: a patient-centered approach to rehabilitation in hospital settings, cooperation between medical and non-medical providers, promoting adaptive sports and rehabilitation through physical activity, providing patients with rehabilitation equipment, and offering social support.
Levon Nikogosyan, the director of the Odessa Health Department, highlighted the establishment of a unified rehabilitation system in the city.
Comprehensive rehabilitation involves the active participation of healthcare facilities of various ownership forms, social services, and non-governmental organizations. Eight medical facilities in Odessa have multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, and to coordinate their work, a dedicated department has been created within the Health Department.
Medical institutions in Odessa have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine, enabling them to provide outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, as well as psychological assistance at no cost under the state medical guarantee program.
Odessa's healthcare professionals continuously adopt the best practices from Ukraine and around the world to implement advanced rehabilitation technologies and methods in their facilities.
«Rehabilitation assistance is one of the most crucial areas of today. The consequences of the war for our society can only be addressed through quality rehabilitation», emphasized Levon Nikogosyan, the director of the city’s Health Department.
