Cystoscopy: A Key Tool for Early Detection of Urological Cancer

Last year, over 2500 cystoscopy procedures were performed in medical facilities in Odessa. Cystoscopy is an examination of the mucous membrane of the urethra, bladder, and ureters that helps detect urological cancers in their early stages.

It is advisable for individuals over 50 years of age to undergo cystoscopy regularly, even in the absence of symptoms. If a patient is under 50 but a doctor deems the procedure necessary, they should obtain a referral to schedule an appointment at a medical facility.

This procedure is included in the state medical guarantee program and can be performed free of charge with a doctor's referral.

Modern cystoscopic equipment has been purchased for Odessa’s medical institutions using city budget funds. Patients can undergo the procedure for free by appointment at the following locations:
- Consultative Diagnostic Center No. 6 — 26a Dobrovoltsiv Street (Marshal Hovorov);
- City Clinical Hospital No. 10 — 61 Oleksiy Vadaturskyi Street (Marshal Malynovskyi);
- City Clinical Hospital No. 11 — 5 Vitalii Nesterenko Street (Academician Vorobyov).
