A Decade of Rehabilitation Services in Odesa

This week marks the 10th anniversary of the rehabilitation service at City Hospital No. 8 in Odesa. The journey of the rehabilitation department began in 2015 when the first rehabilitation beds were established in one of the therapeutic wards. Following this, a separate building was renovated, and new rehabilitation equipment was acquired, leading to the creation of a dedicated rehabilitation unit.

The department offers both inpatient and outpatient services for patients suffering from musculoskeletal disorders, neurological conditions, and those recovering from strokes.

In the past nine months, the hospital has provided nearly 500 outpatient rehabilitation services and more than 200 patients have undergone inpatient rehabilitation. All services are offered free of charge within the framework of the state medical guarantee program upon referral from a family or specialized doctor.

The department is continuously evolving, receiving modern rehabilitation equipment with support from the city authorities. This year, the hospital acquired automatic treadmills, devices for passive rehabilitation of limbs, and new simulators for stair climbing.

Hospital staff regularly undergo training and participate in conferences and seminars, enhancing their knowledge in rehabilitation. Additionally, in collaboration with the Odesa National Medical University, they provide training for intern doctors in physical and rehabilitation medicine.

With modern equipment and ongoing professional development, City Hospital No. 8 is able to provide effective rehabilitation services, greatly improving the quality of life for patients after treatment. This is especially crucial in the context of the ongoing war, where there is a heightened need for medical rehabilitation for Ukraine's defenders.
