New Initiative for School Transportation in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government has approved a new funding initiative for local budgets aimed at acquiring school buses in 2025.
Funds will be allocated to 10 regions that primarily need an upgrade to their transportation fleet for transporting students and educators.
This decision marks an important step towards ensuring quality and safe education for every child, regardless of their residence or security situation.
The funding will enable communities to purchase new school buses, including those specifically equipped for transporting children with special educational needs. Purchases will be conducted with co-financing from local budgets and through the Prozorro Market, significantly reducing processing times.
The following regions will receive buses:
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast
- Kirovohrad Oblast
- Mykolaiv Oblast
- Odesa Oblast
- Sumy Oblast
- Kharkiv Oblast
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast
- Cherkasy Oblast
- Chernihiv Oblast
The total amount of allocated funding is set at 273.7 million UAH.
This is part of a broader government program, which plans to allocate 1.6 billion UAH in 2025 for the purchase of over 500 buses for communities. Priority will be given to hub schools, military lyceums, institutions accepting students from other areas, and schools that have lost transportation due to the war. Since the beginning of the year, communities have already purchased 110 buses.
