New Initiatives for Student Meals in Odesa
In Odesa, elementary school students will be guaranteed meals until the end of the academic year.
The Odesa City Council voted to allocate an additional 20 million hryvnias from the city budget.
Funding for meals for elementary students comes from state subsidies and the local budget – 70% and 30% respectively.
Currently, the subsidy funds have been exhausted, and obtaining additional allocations is not anticipated at this time.
“I believe it is wrong to stop meals in the middle of the school year. I am pleased that most of you share this view. The decision made will ensure meals for this academic year regardless of the state subsidy availability,” emphasized Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
