Odessa Swimmer Achieves Victories on International Stage
Odessa athlete Vadim Naumenko has achieved remarkable success, winning 4 gold medals at the open swimming championship in Lithuania, held in Vilnius from April 3 to 6.
EVENT SUMMARY
The leading Odessa swimmer Vadim Naumenko (coach – Oleksandra Kurbanova) earned top honors in the 200 m and 400 m individual medley events, as well as in relay events – 4x100 medley and 4x200 freestyle.
Additionally, Vadim made it into the top 6 swimmers of the championship and received special awards along with his coach.
MEDAL DETAILS
In his signature event – the 200-meter individual medley – Vadim Naumenko won with a time of 2:02.11, taking the lead from the very first meters, while he completed the 400 meters in 4:23.07. In both cases, the second place was taken by another Ukrainian swimmer – Anton Denysenko (Rivno).
In the mixed relay, the Ukrainian team, consisting of Vadim, Anton, Maxim Ovchinnikov, and Denys Kesil (both – Dnipropetrovsk), posted a time of 3:41.07, finishing ahead of the nearest competitor by 2.45 seconds.
In the 4x200 freestyle relay, the Ukrainian team triumphed with a time of 7:30.75 (+1.62 ahead of the silver medalist). Instead of Ovchinnikov, Georgiy Lukashev (Lviv) competed here.
FUTURE EVENTS
The next competition for the Odessa region team will be the Ukrainian championship, scheduled for April 25-29 in Brovary.
Moreover, on April 12-13, Arseniy Poberezhnyuk (2007-2009) and Ivan Ryaduev (2010-2011) will participate in the international competition “Multination.” The older group will compete in Limassol (Cyprus), while the younger group will be in Ljubljana (Slovenia).
