International Trampoline Tournament: Ukrainian Athletes Shine
From October 11 to 14, 2024, Jablonec nad Nisou in the Czech Republic hosted an international trampoline tournament known as the «Friendship Cup». A total of 380 athletes from 12 different countries participated.
The Ukrainian national team featured athletes Sofia Alarova and Veronika Pyatakova from the Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 1 in Odessa.
Under the guidance of coaches Regina Brailova and Lilia Zakolodyazhna, they earned three medals at the tournament.
Sofia Alarova finished in second place in the individual jumps, showcasing a high level of combination with a career-best score of 53.410 points. She was only surpassed by Jessica Stevens from the USA, the bronze medalist from last year’s world championship (54.600).
In synchro jumps, Alarova and Pyatakova initially placed 7th in qualification (43.750), but their excellent performance in the finals secured them bronze medals (46.050).
Earlier this March, both athletes also became bronze medalists at the World Cup held in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
A total of 54 young athletes are involved in trampoline at the Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 1.
