Young Judokas Compete for Medals in Uzhgorod

On November 22-23, Uzhgorod held the Ukrainian championship in judo for younger cadets under 17.

Over two days, nearly 600 athletes from 23 regions of Ukraine competed at the Uzhgorod Scientific Lyceum sports complex, vying for 17 sets of medals.

In the overall standings, the team from Odesa, consisting of students from sports schools No. 4 and No. 15, along with the regional judo and rugby sports school, and local sports clubs, secured third place with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

The champions of the event were representatives from Kyiv (5-4-4), while the second place went to the team from Dnipropetrovsk region (3-1-5).

Odesa's contribution came from athletes from Sports School No. 4, Valeriya Kanikivska (70 kg) and Kyrylo Vasylynich (73 kg), who won silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The athletes were coached by Serhiy Yermakov.
