Education System in Ukraine: Developing Defense Skills
The educational system in Ukraine is undergoing significant transformations to meet the new challenges and demands of society. It is becoming increasingly important to develop practical skills in students that will enable them to protect themselves, their families, and their country.
This is why the reform of the 'Defense of Ukraine' curriculum is ongoing.
Initiated by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, a working meeting took place at Odesa Lyceum No. 1 named after A.P. Bystrina, focused on establishing and operating centers for teaching the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject in municipal secondary education institutions of Odesa.
The meeting was attended by: heads of secondary education institutions, teachers of the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject, representatives of public and veteran organizations, members of the Odesa City Council, as well as members of the Coordination Council for National-Patriotic Education under the Odesa Mayor.
During the meeting, issues regarding the establishment and functioning of centers for teaching the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject in educational institutions, rational and effective use of available resources, and enhancing the organizational work of the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject in light of contemporary challenges were discussed.
Participants were introduced to recommendations for setting up these centers, developed by the project office of the 'Update of the Defense of Ukraine Program', supported by the 'Partnership for a Strong Ukraine' Fund, and a guideline for creating centers for teaching the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject in educational institutions.
