Ukrainian Universities Shine in Global Rankings
The latest global university ranking by Times Higher Education for 2026 features 22 Ukrainian higher education institutions — five more than last year. The list also includes two universities from Odesa. This information was revealed in the World University Rankings 2026 data.
This year, Ukraine set a record for the number of universities included in the Times Higher Education global ranking — 22 institutions made the list. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov was placed in the 1501+ group, while Odesa Polytechnic University achieved 'ranking participant' status.
The best result among Ukrainian universities was shown by Sumy State University, which entered the 801–1000 group. The remaining universities, including those from Odesa, are positioned in lower tiers of the ranking; however, their mere presence indicates a gradual development and improvement in the standards of Ukrainian education. Despite the challenging circumstances, universities continue to advance their research activities, expand international cooperation, and attract students from various countries.
