Odesa Half Marathon: Unity Through Sport
The Odesa Half Marathon «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» brought together over 600 participants from various regions of Ukraine and the world.
The route covered notable landmarks in Odesa, including Primorsky Boulevard, Deribasivska Street, Sabaneyev Bridge, Gogol Street, Rishelievska Street, Lanzheronivska Street, and others.
Odesa's Mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, welcomed the participants on the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, thanking the organizers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for making such necessary events possible.
He emphasized the personal significance of sports in his life, stating:
«Those who came here are already winners!»
The first participants of this large-scale athletic event included veterans and individuals with mobility impairments.
Advisor to the Mayor, Oleksiy Morozov, noted that adaptive sports and rehabilitation programs are continuing to develop in the city.
The «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» included the following distances:
- Children's distances — from 60 m to 1 km,
- Adults — 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km.
Today, the marathoners were united not only by sport but also by a noble cause — raising funds for prosthetics for patients at the Odesa Superhumans Center.
