Solar Power Initiatives in Odessa's Education Sector
Educational institutions in Odessa are adopting alternative energy sources. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia since 2022 has severely damaged the energy infrastructure, resulting in unstable electricity supply for many state and municipal organizations.
In the face of blackouts, solar power plants have become a vital alternative for ensuring stable electricity supply.
With the support of the Lithuanian solar energy company UAB Okata, a project to install solar power stations is underway at several Odessa lyceums, including No. 86, 81, 9, 62, 92, and at the preschool facility “Kindergarten” No. 195.
This project ensures full energy independence for educational institutions, allowing them to continue teaching and nurturing activities even during power outages.
Moreover, harnessing solar energy will significantly reduce budgetary expenditures on energy resources.
In light of ongoing attacks on the energy system, the installation of solar power plants is a crucial step towards promoting the use of clean energy sources.
In the Odessa region, UAB Okata is actively developing a solar power plant installation project, which is fundamental to energy independence and a safer future. The implementation began in August 2023 after signing an agreement with the Environmental Project Management Agency under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Odessa and the Odessa region serves as the project coordinator.
