Ukrainian Wrestling Championship: Young Athletes Shine
From January 28 to February 1, the Ukrainian Championship among youth (U23) in wrestling took place in Zvyagel, Zhytomyr region.
229 athletes from all over Ukraine participated in the competition.
In the men’s category of «up to 74 kg», Vitaliy Malenkov represented the Odessa Specialized Children's and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve No. 14.
Throughout the tournament, Vitaliy secured three early victories with a total score of 31:0 (10:0, 10:0, 11:0). In the final, he did not allow his opponent, Bohdan Oliynyk from Poltava, to score any points, but he also did not score himself - 0:0. The victory was decided by additional criteria in favor of the athlete from Poltava.
This result qualifies Vitaliy for the honorary title of «Master of Sports of Ukraine».
The athlete was trained by coach Viktor Yefteni.
