Alina Komashchuk Claims Silver Medal at European Fencing Championship

Olympic champion from Odessa, Alina Komashchuk, reached a significant milestone in her career by securing her first individual medal at the European Fencing Championship held in Genoa.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Fencing Federation.

On June 15, Alina Komashchuk won the silver medal at the European Fencing Championship taking place in Italy's Genoa.

In the final match among sabre fencers, she lost to the current European champion from France, Sara Nouchi, with a score of 6:15.

On her way to the finals, the Ukrainian athlete showcased remarkable skills: she first confidently defeated Italian fencer Mariella Viale, a medalist at junior world and European championships, and then overcame the strong Polish fencer Sylwia Matuszak in the semifinals.

This silver medal is historic for Komashchuk, as she has previously reached the podium at European championships with her team but had never claimed an individual medal.
