Daria Mironyuk Advances in Shanghai Grand Prix

Ukrainian fencer Daria Mironyuk has made her way into the main draw of the Grand Prix held in Shanghai.

In the 1/64 finals, she defeated a competitor from Hong Kong with a score of 12:7. Out of five Ukrainian athletes in the competition, only Mironyuk was able to advance past this stage.

Alina Poloznyuk lost to Camilla Mancini (8:15), Kim Ho Yong proved stronger than Kristina Petrova (10:15), Kateryna Budenko suffered a heavy defeat to Maria Teresa Dias (5:15), and Olga Sopit was eliminated by Vladislava Penyushkina in the 1/128 finals.

The main event will take place on Sunday, May 18, at 05:00 Kyiv time.

It is noteworthy that at the end of 2024, Mironyuk won her first senior medal, taking home silver at the European Championship in Basel.

Previously, it was reported that the international fencing federation allowed 'neutral' Russians and Belarusians to participate in team events.
