Celebrating Shevchenko in Odessa: Poetry and Treats
On March 9, an intriguing event titled «Poetry for Treats» took place in Shevchenko Park, organized by the «Defense of the State» NGO. This gathering was dedicated to the birthday of the renowned Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Participants had the chance to recite his poems and enjoy delightful treats.
During the event held in the park, everyone was invited to recall and read Shevchenko's poetry. Both adults and children participated in the festivities.
Those who recited verses from the Kobzar received boxes of sweets as gifts. The organizers mentioned that the event attracted interest from residents of Odessa of all ages, with dozens taking part.
Olexiy Zemlyany, the head of the Odessa branch of the «Defense of the State» NGO, congratulated everyone on this significant date in Ukrainian history. He expressed hope that the poet's words would symbolize renewal and unity for the country. The event concluded with famous lines from Shevchenko's works about Ukraine's future.
