Tourism Conference on Accessibility in Odessa

Today, December 5, 2024, Odessa hosted a conference titled «Tourism Accessible to All».

The purpose of the event was to unite the efforts of city authorities and businesses to develop an accessible environment in tourism and hospitality.

This is a pressing issue identified by the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine as a key focus for 2024.

Despite the challenges of wartime, Odessa continues to welcome domestic and international tourists, making it crucial to address infrastructure accessibility and inclusivity in tourism.

The conference brought together people with disabilities, government representatives, and business leaders to discuss the accessibility of cultural and tourist attractions as well as hotel and restaurant facilities. Medical tourism was also a topic of discussion among participants.

«Today, we are creating conditions whereby every resident and guest of the city can move freely, access necessary services, and participate in social life. Hotels, restaurants, museums, theaters, and transport must be adapted for people with disabilities,» said Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

Additionally, during the discussions, participants addressed the current state of affairs, future plans, grant programs, and the involvement of business structures in developing an accessible environment in Odessa.
