Odessa's Festive Preparations for the New Year

In Odessa, preparations for the New Year and Christmas festivities are in full swing. Recently, municipal workers began setting up the city's main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.

The height of the Christmas tree is 20 meters, and its width is 9 meters. Traditionally, it is topped with a Christmas star. This year, the main tree will be adorned with elements of traditional Ukrainian patterns and blue-yellow ribbons.

The ceremonial opening is scheduled for December 6, on St. Nicholas Day.

«On St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree of Odessa will be unveiled, along with a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture and International Cooperation. The audience will enjoy performances from the Odessa Municipal Band of Wind Instruments named after O. Salik, as well as talented children from local creative institutions. Various festive events will take place during the New Year celebrations in municipal facilities, including the zoo,» said Ivan Liptuga, the director of the department.

Due to the state of war and curfew, mass street celebrations are not planned for New Year’s Eve.
