Ukrainian Film Festival in Latvia: New Horizons

From October 10 to 12, 2025, the fifth festival «Ukrainian Film Days in Latvia» took place in Riga, marking an important milestone in cultural diplomacy between Ukraine and Latvia.

This event was organized by the Charity Fund ChF "Doors" in collaboration with the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and Latvian partners.

For the first time, the festival featured a Round Table on «Prospects for the Development of Ukrainian Cinema and Co-production with European Filmmakers,» bringing together professionals from both countries.

The main attraction of the festival was the screenings of Ukrainian films with the participation of their creators.

The chair of «Odesa Film Studio» Anna Docheva presented the film «Why I Am Alive» by director Vilien Novak, which has become iconic in modern Ukrainian cinema.

During the festival, Valters Kagainis was awarded the «Legends of Odesa Film Studio» prize for his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema and collaboration with Odesa Film Studio.

Screenings took place at the Ksuns/Kinogalerija cinema and the Ukrainian House in Latvia (Ukrainas māja Latvijā).
