New Year Celebrations in Odesa: Preparations Underway
Preparations for the holiday season are in full swing in Odesa. Yesterday, municipal workers began setting up the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
The height of the tree is 20 meters, and its width is 9 meters. Traditionally, a Christmas star will adorn the top. This year, the main Christmas tree will feature elements of traditional Ukrainian ornamentation along with blue and yellow ribbons.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6 – St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, we will celebrate the opening of Odesa's main Christmas tree and a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture. The program will include performances by the Odesa Municipal Brass Band named after O. Salik, along with talented children from local creative institutions. Festive activities will also take place in various municipal establishments, including the zoo», said Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Department of Culture.
Due to martial law and curfew restrictions, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve are not planned.
