Exhibition "Blood is Life" at Odessa Church
The Odessa Church hosted an exhibition titled "Blood is Life," transforming the space into a platform for creative interpretations of blood donation through art.
This exhibition is a result of collaboration with the project "Donor Odessa," involving faculty and students from the artistic-graphic department of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky.
The theme of love for one another and life-saving through sharing blood resonates deeply with Christian teachings.
A mural depicting a large red stain, symbolizing the blood of Jesus Christ, is painted above the altar, uniting all who come to partake in communion.
"During donation, people exchange blood regardless of nationality or religious beliefs. If we believe in one God, everything else that divides us should take a backseat. Today, we aim to showcase our unity and readiness to help each other," noted Pastor Alexander Gross during the exhibition opening.
The opening ceremony also included awards for students and faculty members who contributed significantly to the exhibition's creation.
Prominent figures such as Dmitry Velichko, Dean of the Art Department, artists Anna Nosenko and Natalia Loza, along with other faculty, collectively produced over 40 works showcasing the beauty of blood donation.
This exhibition is the first in Ukraine to showcase 3D art pieces focused on the theme of blood donation, held in the cathedral's premises.
The exhibition will be open for the next month.
